Moth & Butterfly Trio Collection

$124.99

The Madagascan sunset moth is a day-flying moth of the family Uraniidae. It is considered one of the most impressive looking moths and sought after by collectors. The species was named by Dru Drury in 1773 when he originally considered it to be a butterfly.

The Peacock belongs to the Papilionidae family of butterflies. The butterfly is also known as the green swallowtail. The colors on the wings of some of these butterflies are metallic and are eye catchy especially when viewed from a particular angle. The remarkable feature of this butterfly’s wing is that it contains rows of very small concave surfaces that reflect light in many ways. For instance, the center of the concave surface reflects a yellow-green light and the edges reflect a blue light.

Ulysses is the Roman name for Greek hero, a character in ancient Greek mythology. The upper side of the wings are iridescent electric blue, the underside is a darker black and brown mixture. The colors are produced by the microscopic structure of the scales, a phenomenon called structural coloration.

This would be a beautiful addition to your home or office.
