Lamprima adolphinae is a member of the stag beetle family and is native to West Papua New Guinea. They vary in color and can exhibit metallic green, gold, brown, and even blue coloration. Despite how dangerous they may look, they are not carnivorous and feed mostly on rotting fruit and tree sap. Males have very large mandibles, which are used for fighting other males for food and territory. Despite their appearance they are not normally aggressive to humans.
